This station is operated by members of the Scarborough Special Events Group who give their time to assist in promoting the work of the RNLI.

They have just changed the way that they will be dealing with QSL cards and I reproduce the statement that they have just issued.

“CHANGE TO OUR QSL POLICY Scarborough Special Events Group

The Scarborough Special Events Group normally activate three GB Special Events in any year. We also occasionally run smaller events for Guides Thinking Day on the Air and regularly use Club calls GX0OOO, GS0OOO, GC0OOO, GT7OOO in the Summits on the Air organisation. In addition, we often use the call M0O in International contests.

We post and receive around 3000 cards per year to and from the RSGB QSL Bureau. Of the incoming GB cards, we receive and answer approximately 10 SWL reports, read the comments on the other cards, then throw them away.

Although we have a big reputation, we are only a small group, with just 20 members, who meet all group expenses themselves. The cost of postage and envelopes has increased to such an extent (with another increase due in April 2010) that the time has come to rationalise our QSL policy if we are to continue providing the high quality full colour QSL’s which give such pleasure to our supporters and on which our reputation is founded.

The Committee have discussed this problem and have decided unanimously that from 1st January 2010 the group will no longer collect incoming GB QSL cards from the Bureau. This will save the group approximately £30 annually and will have only minimum effect on our supporters

We will continue to reply to every direct card received and also dispatch a QSL card to the Bureau for every QSO made. We will also post the entire GB station log on e-QSL. Please do not send a QSL card to us via the Bureau. You will automatically receive one from us.

The only stations that will loose out will be the small number of SWL’s who send their cards to us via the QSL Bureau. At the moment these take between 1 and 2 years to arrive and an equal amount of time for them to receive a reply back from us.

In future, SWL’s will have the choice to either apply direct with an SAE / IRC / $1, or alternatively, route their cards to the GB callsign via club call G0OOO, direct to t R CLAYTON 9 Green Island, Irton, Irton, SCARBOROUGH, YO12 4RN or via the bureau for this callsign We will post this new policy on our web site, on QRZ.com, and announce this on the air at frequent intervals. Please note that this only applies to GB calls. Roy  G4SSH Chairman

Your QSL cards with any donations will be apprecaiated via the direct route Thank you
